History of Taiyo Kogyo Corporation

 

Established as Nohmura Tent Company in Osaka, Japan, by Kaneshige Nohmura-father of the company's present Chairman, grandfather of the President.

 

Company is completely destroyed in air raid fire.

 

Nohmura Sewing Factory is established in Osaka, Japan, by Ryotaro Nohmura.

 

Company name is changed to Taiyo Kogyo Co.,Ltd.

 

New York Office is established in USA.

 

Introduces membrane structures to world visitors at Expo'70 World's Fair in Osaka. U.S.Pavillion demonstrates the first largescale application of a cable-restrained, air-supported membrane structure.

 

Acquires balance of Holcombe Industries,Inc. in Redwood City, California, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Changes its name to Helios Industries, Inc.

 

Tokyo Dome, japan's first permanent airsupported structure is completed for use as a baseball stadium, and convention and concert facility.

 

Acquires 52.5% ownership interest in Birdair, Inc., Amherst, New York, USA. (50% voting interest) Balance of interest held by Chemfab Corporation.
