SILT CURTAIN IS NOT A FILTER
typical misunderstanding on silt curtains is that silt curtain works as a filter passing water through but not soil. Small holes of curtain fabric is clogged by soil very soon under water and it does not pass soil nor water anymore. If there is no silt curtain around the turbidity source, free flow velocity will transport turbidity long distance. If there are silt curtains around the turbidity source, transport distance of soil is minimized because of controlled flow velocity. |
